Cranberries are a quintessential Christmas fare which is why I think today’s cranberry almond baked brie is the perfect holiday appetizer!
Baked brie is always a crowd pleaser anyway but this version really does take things to the next level. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better than warm creamy cheese oozing at the seams, in comes a dreamy crunchy topping packed with honeyed dried cranberries and spiced almond. Hmm, yes there is a heaven on earth…and it’s made of melted cheese :)
250 g round brie cheese
50 g almonds, roughly chopped
50 g dried cranberries, roughly chopped
25 g butter
1/4 cup honey
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp orange zest
Bread or crackers to serve
Pre-heat your oven to 180 C.
Place the brie on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and bake for 10-12 min or until the brie is soft.
While the brie is in the oven make your cranberry topping. Add the butter, honey, cinnamon, almond and cranberries to a small saucepan placed over medium heat. Bring to a boil and immediately take off the heat.
Remove the brie from the oven and place it on a plate. Top with the cranberry mixture and grated orange peel.
Serve immediately with sliced bread or crackers.
