Gone are the days when leather was exclusive to punks, bad boys and rock stars. The once controversial fabric has been going through somewhat of a revolution in recent years, dominating fashion runways around the world and establishing itself as a true Winter wardrobe essential.
Now leather is set to take over Spring and Summer as well, with designers ditching the classic black silhouette and opting for bright hues and earthy tones instead. Tobacco was Mulberry’s color of choice for its 2013 collection whilst Balmain opted for black, reds and whites. Major retailers have now followed suit and the likes of Zara, Mango and Topshop are all offering their own version of leather brights.
I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite picks above. The great news is that there are also plenty of faux leather choices on the market, an option not only kinder to our animal friends but our wallets as well!
What do you think of leather? Is ‘leather brights’ a trend you’d like to try?
