my bucket list

Welcome to the very first edition of Pretty Travels – a virtual soiree for stylish travelers from all around the globe to share their fabulous stories! If you’re a reader with insatiable wanderlust, then pour yourself a nice drink, lay back and prepare to be whisked away to many a magical place. If you’re a blogger, then please read our (simple) rules below and join the link up party!

Do you love to travel in style? Do you believe that globetrotting can be almost as glamorous as it can be life changing? Then you’re definitely in the right place! I’m so excited to have you over for this travel party and I can’t wait to hear all about your wonderful adventures abroad. The house rules are pretty simple:

  • Share a link to one of your fabulous travel-related posts using the inlinkz button below. It can be about what you wore overseas, your packing tips, a fabulous restaurant you ate at, or even just a general wanderlust post…anything goes as long as it’s related to travel.
  • Make friends with at least two of the other bloggers by leaving a comment on their posts. The link up is open for three days so make sure to come back to check out new posts too.

Since I believe that when it comes to parties, ‘the more the merrier’, feel free to invite all your fabulous friends to link up too!

Finally, no party would be complete without favors so feel free to grab a button on your way out to display on your own blog.

To kick off the festivities I thought I’d share my travel bucket list with you today. Since I literally could list about a hundred places I’d like to visit, I decided to narrow it down to the 5 countries/cities I hope to visit in the next 5 years.

cuba source

There’s so much that attracts me to Cuba it’s kind of ridiculous. The language (I very tentatively studied Spanish in High School), the music, the dancing, the amazing vintage cars……and don’t even get me started on the food. I could kill for some boliche right now. The best thing is, I  know that all these things are only a tiny part of Cuban culture too. This country has so much more to offer and I can’t wait to experience it all…someday!

Every time I see a friend or blogger posting pictures from their Grecian holiday I’m reminded of just how much I want to go there. As I’m a huge fan of Greek mythology and ancient history (surprise – I’ m a geek!) I’d love to spend a few days in Athens and Delphi to walk amongst the ruins, visit the museums etc. Then I’d fly to Santorini where I’d sip on cocktails, eat my weight’s worth in feta cheese and watch the glorious sunset with my Honey. Bliss!

New York

new york

New York is probably the place that I’m longing to visit the most to be honest. Blame it on my undying love for ‘Sex and the City’ or whatever but I really can’t wait to visit MOMA, tickle the sky from the Empire State Building and see that big tall French lady in person. And maybe do a spot of shopping and have a Cosmo or two while I’m at it. I feel I owe it to the girls, you now?

I’ve always been fascinated by Istanbul and its history. Its name alone (as well as its old names ‘Constantinople’ and ‘Byzantium’) evokes beauty and mystery for me and I love the fact that it seems to be able to marry many different cultural influences so seamlessly whilst still being a very cosmopolitan city.

yucatan mexico

Mmm ancient ruins, good food and delicious cocktails..can you see a pattern here? To be fair, I think that Mexico figures on most people’s travel bucket list. It just seems to have something for everyone; from glorious beaches to historic sites through to stunning landscapes and cities that never sleep. Vamos?

Have you visited any of these places? What’s on your travel bucket list? Let me know in the comments section!

Now over to you, please share your links below!
