The French Beauty Haul

french beauty haul

Every time I go back to France for a visit, I always make sure that I stop by my local pharmacy and supermarket to stock up on my favorite beauty products. Most French women take their skincare very seriously (something that alas got lost on me) and I’m always amazed at the array of products available in even the smallest shops. Some of these products are available overseas of course but the prices are so much cheaper in France then it would almost be silly not to take advantage of them… At least that’s what I told myself last month when I bought all of the following products:

Le Petit Marseillais shower gel

Le Petit Marseillais has a wonderful array of  shower gels, each smelling nicer than the next.  I particularly love their raspberry and peony shower gel because it smells lovely and fruity without being too overpowering.

♥ Bioderma micelle solution

Bioderma’s micelle solution  has gained a bit of a cult status in France and it’s easy to understand why. Whereas some make up remover can leave your skin red and feeling slightly irritated, Bioderma manages to gently remove all make up and impurities whilst leaving your skin feeling fresh. It’s especially perfect for sensitive skins but I’ve been using it on my mixed skin and I love it!

Chanel perfection lumiere fondation

I first started using Chanel foundations after hearing Samantha Chapman singing their praises in her Pixiwoo make-up videos. They’re definitely not cheap but they are absolutely fantastic. This particular one provides a medium coverage but it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin at all and it still looks really natural.

Caudalie – Hydrating Face Mask

Caudalie is a natural skin care brand and all of their products are based on vine extracts. I’m a big fan of their range but especially of their hydrating face mask. During Winter, it’s the only thing that can stop my skin from feeling dull and tight.

♥ Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse

Nuxe is probably my favorite French beauty brand. All of their products smell amazing and work really well on my skin. Unfortunately their prices can be a little high which is why I generally only buy one or two of their products at a time. This time around I settled for their ‘Huile Prodigieuse’ which is famous for both its scent and being multi- purpose. I also couldn’t resist their cute anniversary edition bottle!

Vichy Aqualia Thermal – Eye Roll On

I’m not sure if it’s because I’m getting old or whatever but lately I’ve been getting some serious bags under my bags. The lady at the pharmacy recommended this Vichy eye roll-on to me and I must say it’s made a lovely difference. I also like the cooling effect that you get when rolling the product under your eyes – very refreshing.

Bourjois – Healthy mix touche concealer

This Bourjois concealer goes hand in hand with product #3. It has a really nice consistency and really melts into your skin which I really like. It’s a good substitute to pricier similar products such as YSL’s touche eclat.

Guinot – Creme pur equilibre (pure balance cream)

This product was also recommended to me by the pharmacist and so far it’s been great at taming my oily T-zone and hydrating the rest of my face. I really hope it keeps on working as well during the height of summer.

What are YOUR favorite beauty products? Any brands you think I should try?

    • Don’t they smell divine? I’m the same with my parents, they always have to lug a bunch of Petit Marseillais around whenever they come for a visit x I also like the Occitane in Provence shower gels but they are way pricier -(
