The ‘Stylish Tourist’ is a new interview series in which seasoned travelers and fellow bloggers will share their tips on how to travel in style. The questions will cover everything from packing tips to favorite shopping haunts through to makeup and carry on essentials!

Read on to see my first interview with Marnie Debets from ‘It’s a dull life‘.

What was your best ever holiday?

My recent trip to Europe was definitely my best ever holiday! Over 5 weeks I traveled around London, Croatia, Paris, Nice, Monaco, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Prague, Berlin and Amsterdam. I had such an amazing trip; undeniably due to the breathtaking places I visited, the delicious food I ate and all of the incredible people I met. If perspective was what I was looking for, then I sure found it…

Are you a full suitcase or carry-on only kind of gal?

I’m going to regret saying this, but full suitcase, always. Even though it weighed a ton and I had to drag it up and down what felt like hundreds of flights of stairs in my last trip, it was worth it. There were only a few things I regret packing, I got it right for the most part!

What are two items of clothing you never travel without?

It’s always going to depend on the weather but if the temperature is a warm, a maxi dress is a staple. I always opt for black but it’s a personal choice. A really comfortable pair of pants that can be dressed up or down is also an essential – I wore my Ponte pants almost every day, rolled up at the ankles with a pair of Nikes for day, and with a pair of casual heels and camisole for night.

What’s always in your carry on?

Phone, wallet, passport, iPod + headphones, gum, neck pillow… oh and flip flops to change into at the airport! (my feet tend to puff up on the plane).

Where is your favorite place to shop in the world?

Oxford Circus and the surrounding streets in London. Home to absolutely everything you could imagine with so many retailers’ flagship stores. You MUST go to Topshop!

What’s the best item you’ve ever bought whilst on holiday?

I am absolutely obsessing over an iridescent jacket I recently bought at Topshop in London, as well as a studded leather jacket.

Do you have any travel makeup essentials?

A foundation with good coverage ( I love Napoleon Perdis) and a bright lippy!

What’s your number 1 tip to stay stylish whilst on holiday?

Pack a lot of basics that can be easily re-worked with different pieces, especially accessories. A statement pair of sunglasses is always a good outfit topper as well!

Where will you go next?

I’d love to do a big USA trip next, otherwise maybe an island holiday or back to Europe!

Thank you so much for sharing these tips with us Marnie. Happy travels!

  • What an awesome new feature! Marnie has such badass style – that black Sportsgirl dress she wore in Monaco is absolutely stunning. Loved the combo of black lace skirt and flamingo t-shirt too (and I have the same jelly sandals!)! What a cutie pie!

    • Thank you MJ! I am obsessed with Marnie’s black dress too, she looked stunning in it!

  • This is such a fun feature. I am naturally nosey so love looking at other people’s travel pics and as am keen to learn how to look good with a capsule (as in case) wardrobe! I love all Marnie’s outfits but I adore the sunglasses!

    • Yes Marnie did a great job at rocking her capsule travel wardrobe. And I may have to steal her sunglasses next time I see her ;)

    • Thanks Terri, I know you’re a stylish traveler so I can’t wait to interview you someday soon :)
